InspectView (also published as InspectView Field) is a work tool for aircraft engine maintenance, repair and overhaul shops. It is used by staff of a shop that holds an InspectView account. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and how it is protected.
Who controls your data
The maintenance shop that invited you owns the inspection records you create. InspectView operates the service on that shop's behalf and does not sell data or use it for advertising.
What we collect
- Account details — name, work email, role and the shop you belong to, used to sign you in and to show only your shop's records.
- Work records you create — inspection findings, notes, part references, work order links, clock-in and clock-out times, and approvals.
- Photos and videos — images and borescope footage you capture or upload for an inspection, together with the job they belong to.
- Documents — manuals and reference files uploaded by your shop for search and citation.
- Technical logs — basic device and error information needed to keep the app working and secure.
- Security signals — a random device identifier stored in your browser (
iv_device_id) and the device type your browser reports. We don't store raw IP addresses: we keep a salted, one-way hash of the address plus the country reported by our network provider. These are used to spot unusual sign-ins, such as a first sign-in from a new country.
Camera, photos and storage permissions
The camera is used only when you choose to capture a photo or video for an inspection. Photo library access is used only when you pick an existing file to attach. Local device storage is used to hold your work while you are offline. The app doesn't access contacts or messages and doesn't use your device's GPS location. We work out an approximate country from your IP address for sign-in security. The app does not run the camera in the background.
Identity verification
If your organisation asks you to verify your identity, the identity step collects a government ID (front and back), a company badge photo, a selfie, and your A&P/FAA licence number and expiry. They are saved in your organisation's workspace and can be seen only by you, your organisation's admins, and InspectView platform admins who review them. They aren't sent to an outside identity-verification provider and are used only to verify you. You can ask for them to be deleted at security@inspectview.io.
Working offline
When you turn on offline mode or lose signal, clock-ins, findings, notes and photos are saved on your phone and marked as held. They are sent to your shop's workspace as soon as a connection returns, then removed from the local hold queue. Cached manuals and job data are stored on the device so you can keep working without a network.
How we use the data
To run inspections, build reports and quotes, track labour against jobs, search manuals, and give your shop an auditable record of who did what and when. AI models analyse photos and video frames to suggest possible damage, read manuals and help with parts search. Their output is advisory and a person reviews it before sign-off.
Detector training
Only if your organisation opts in, reviewed inspection pictures and the boxes drawn on them are sent to Roboflow to train our damage detector. It's off by default, and pictures already sent can be removed on request.
Sharing
Data is shared only with your own shop's users according to their role, with customers your shop explicitly sends a report or quote to, and with the service providers listed under "Who processes data for us" below. We do not sell personal data.

Planned, not active today: Stripe (payments), Sentry (error monitoring), Cloudflare Turnstile (bot protection), Postmark (inbound email), Twilio (SMS/WhatsApp). We'll update this list before any of them is switched on.
Security
Access requires a signed-in account. Encrypted at rest and in transit; each customer's data is isolated by database access rules.
Keeping and deleting data
Signed inspection records are kept for at least 7 years, and deleting them is blocked while they are kept. You can ask your shop administrator to remove your account, or contact us at security@inspectview.io to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. Uninstalling the app clears any work still held on the device, so sync before you remove it.
Children
The app is a workplace tool and is not intended for anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify account administrators.
