What every borescope inspection report must contain
A borescope report is read by people who were not there: the next lessee, the buyer, the lessor's technical team, an auditor years later. It has to stand on its own.

The sections
- Identity. Aircraft and engine: model, ESN, TSN/CSN, position, date, location, reason for the inspection.
- Task. The AMM task reference and revision, and the scope actually covered.
- Equipment. The borescope, tip and measurement method; the turning tool used.
- Stage by stage. For every port and stage: what was inspected, the video reference, findings with location, size and photograph, and the limit each was judged against.
- Status. Per module — serviceable, repetitive inspection or reduced cycles, unserviceable — and the engine's overall status.
- Actions. Repetitive inspections set, repairs recommended, manufacturer consultation if any.
- Signature. The inspector's name, authorisation and signature; the organisation; the date.
What makes it checkable
Measurements with units. Port and blade numbers. Video that can be opened. The limit quoted, not just "within limits". A second inspector should be able to repeat the conclusion from the report alone.
Formats
Operators and lessors often require their own layout. InspectView replicates the customer's format and exports a flat PDF and an editable version; the free template on this site is the minimum any report should meet.
FAQ
- Is a findings list enough?
- For a maintenance record, the operator's procedure decides; for a transaction, no — the full report with video is expected.
- Should the report include every stage even when nothing was found?
- Yes; "inspected, no findings" per stage is evidence that the stage was inspected.
- Who owns the report?
- The customer; InspectView stores it and the customer downloads it at any time.
