Borescope inspection services in the UK and Ireland: what Dublin lessors need
Most of the world's leased commercial aircraft are managed from Dublin, and every one of those engines changes hands several times in its life. Each transition needs an independent borescope inspection — spelled boroscope by half the people searching for it — and a records check that both sides trust.

Where the demand comes from
- Lease deliveries and redeliveries: the return-condition borescope with video, the MPA run witness and the QEC inventory.
- Mid-lease inspections: a scheduled look at the asset while it is flying, to catch problems before they become redelivery disputes.
- Engine trading: pre-purchase inspections for engines bought and sold on their own, with or without a lease attached.
- Airlines and MROs: scheduled and unscheduled inspections when the in-house team is stretched or an independent opinion is wanted.
Engines
CFM56-5B and -7B, LEAP-1A and -1B, V2500 and PW1100G cover most of the fleet on lease from Ireland; CF34s on regional jets and the GTCP131-9 APU round out the list. Tell us the engine and we confirm capability before you book.
How an on-site inspection works
Send the engine model, ESN, airport, dates and the reason for the inspection. We confirm an inspector and a mobilization window. The inspection takes a few hours on wing; the report, drafted in InspectView and signed by the inspector, follows within one to two working days with video and findings sized against the AMM.
Releases after Brexit
UK and EU maintenance releases are now separate systems. If your lease or sale agreement specifies a particular release, say so when you request the inspection so the right path is confirmed before anyone travels.
Airports we are asked about most
Dublin, Shannon, London Stansted, London Gatwick, Manchester, East Midlands, Prestwick and Belfast — plus storage fields and MRO bases across the islands. Ask for any airport; mobilization is confirmed per request.
FAQ
- Can you inspect an engine in storage at Shannon or a UK storage field?
- Yes. Off-wing and stored engines are inspected on a stand, with a check of preservation records.
- Do I need a UK or an EASA release?
- It depends on the aircraft's registry and the agreement. Tell us which you need and we confirm the path before booking.
- How much notice do you need?
- Scheduled inspections are best booked a week ahead; AOG and short-notice requests are handled on availability.
